'World Citizen' - t-shirt design' By 'brand resistant'

There seems to be a lot of talk of living in a post-national age recently, at least from what I’ve been tuning into (news, music, blogs and people). After Obama’s historic rise to the global stage millions of; hopeful, eager and weary voices  tuned into his inauguration speech. In doing so, utilising new media’s somewhat limitless possibilities to in turn communicate the message of change and a common purpose, “… as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.” (Obama: 2009)

America seems revived to once again be at the forefront of securing peace in the world, but is this change much more deeper then a political transition? I certainly think so, picking up the pieces from;  climate change, worldwide economic downturn and cultural prejudices hopefully will signal a need for a significant shift in human relations where we recognise each others oneness. As our collective selfish motives and the divisions we have constructed as a society, in some ways have created the unjust systems which are now collapsing literally with everyone feeling the affects.

Well before the mainstream  expressed the concept of world citizenship (and similar ideology) as vividly as it does now, the Baha’i writings expressed that “The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens” (Baha’u’llah) This is something not to be taken lightly, although it is wonderful statement, it seems to be sending a very clear message for everyone to unite beyond racial, cultural and national lines. The mutual benefit and inevitability of this process seems apparent, but it will be a teething time as many hold onto the past.

Prolific rapper/activist Chuck D,  provides some great commentary on where the world is heading in light of the new Obama administration:
