Israel and Lebanon

17 July, 2006

A beautiful yet vulnerable place

In the midst of the seemingly usual CNN social commentary of a ‘Middle East Crisis’, is a heightening of a violence we all wished would not rise to such vividly disturbing ranks. For many the city of Haifa may seem like another area which is victim to terrorism with both nations involved killing countless civilians, though beyond this is a worry for the holy land. Of course the Holy Land of Israel which all religions claim heritage from, but within Haifa God’s mountain Carmel, is something which needs to be thought of in devotion. For the Bahai world centre which is established there, is ordained to in many ways eventually work to dissolve the shells which fly near its proximity. For wherever weapons are used or by whomever, it is a mind state which needs to be changed for the well-being of humankind. My thoughts are with all those in the midst of this conflict all throughout Lebanon and Israel, especially as it seems things will get a lot worse before they get better:

From a Baha’i perspective, then, the rise in terrorism, fundamentalism, and violence in the world today is simply part of the death throes of an old world order that continues to resist the principle of human oneness and the global institutions that are sure to blossom from its widespread acceptance.
